We received communication from the City that some players were completely disrespectful to the staff that opened the gate last night at Newsham.
We are, quite frankly, shocked and ashamed by this behaviour. Nasty comments and booing are beneath us. We can only host a league by using the city fields. The actions from last night could easily result in us being denied access to the fields, and we wouldn’t blame them. No one should be harassed or disrespected EVER. Period.
Please also be aware of our Schedule A. If we knew who the culprits were that displayed such poor, disrespectful behaviour, they would be suspended up to a year. We remind you, when registering, every player agrees to our Code of Conduct which states:
Respect the human rights, dignity and the worth of others.
Be aware of, and maintain at all times the standards, rules, regulations, and policies of the SAS.
Refrain from any form of abuse towards self and others.
Refrain from using any obscene language and gestures.
Refrain from any form of harassment towards others.
Refrain from any form of discrimination towards others.
Refrain from any form of victimization towards others.
Promote soccer in the community.
Provide a safe environment for soccer to be played in Saskatoon.
Be a positive role model for those watching you compete
Your actions are a reflection on us all, and the reported language and comments are NOT how we should behave nor how we want to be perceived. We work closely with the City staff each year and we hope these actions haven’t jeopardized our relationship or future bookings.
Next time, if someone locks a gate, the lights malfunction, anything, we expect a thank you to be offered once it is remedied, and not unkind distasteful language as displayed last night.
We also take this time to thank the players that were thankful and gracious. We know not everyone exhibited bad behaviour and so we want to acknowledge when proper etiquette is displayed as well. Thank you for your kindness and humanity.
