We have now been informed by Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA), after their discussion with Saskatchewan Health Authority’s (SHA) Business Response Team (BRT) that “Individuals 18 years of age or older while participating in a sporting activity, for the duration of the activity only, are exempt from wearing a mask as long as they are subject to an organization wide proof of vaccination policy.”
This means that for adult players to be allowed to play without a mask, our organization will need to require a proof of vaccination. Given this new information, our board of directors will be meeting in order determine which direction we will go.
In the meantime, we’d like to know how this new mandate affects your team and therefore we have polled the team contacts. This poll is not meant for individual players. Your team contact will provide consensus of your team and whether your team will be affected by the new mask during play government mandate and/or a proof of vaccination policy.
We understand that some players are not happy about wearing masks or having to show a proof of vaccination to play, but we prefer to look at it as “glass half full” and are grateful that we are still able to play the beautiful game.
