COVID-19- Update

Oct. 27, 2020

Good afternoon players/team contacts,

As some of you may have heard, there have been 3 positive COVID-19 cases in Saskatoon Youth Soccer. As our associate, and also a user of the Saskatoon Sports Centre, we want to make our players aware as well.

The three cases are related. Neither us nor SYS have been informed of any additional cases but we will notify everyone if more happen to come up. Also, in the event we do have a positive case within our league, the immediate bubble will be informed, as well as the rest of the leagues.

We applaud the Saskatoon Soccer Centre staff for their quick response to SYS’s notification with even further deep cleaning. Their vigilance is how we are safely running. SYS is also commended on how they have handled the news. We plan to mirror them if we should happen to be in the same position.

With your help though, and with following our protocols, we can best arm ourselves by doing what Sask Health encourages:

  • WEAR YOUR MASK! It is mandatory in all common areas - no exceptions. Including walking to your change/green room, getting water from the water bottle fountain etc.
  • WASH YOUR HANDS! Sanitizer is available by the fields. We encourage you to use when coming in and leaving the fields/centres.
  • LIMIT YOUR CONTACT! Do not give your cards to the ref, do not head the ball, do not throw the ball in.
  • LIMIT YOUR SPECTATORS! If possible, please leave your friends and family at home. IF you MUST bring them, limit to 1 per player.
  • SIGN IN! If a spectator must come, please be sure to remind them to sign in and out. This helps with tracing. But again, it just adds more risk to them and everyone else, so if they can stay home, please do so!

We have implemented these rules in order to keep our league safe and active!

Please contact the office if you have any questions or view our COVID page on our website.
